This Old French Farmstead, its houses, grounds and 'out buildings', became a family home with gardens and guest houses, originally renovated with the visits of friends and relatives in mind. Tree lined drive with lavender borders, extensive, wooded walled gardens, park land and play ground, with a large swimming pool and old stone buildings scattered around.
This family Résidence has a mezzanine bedroom plus three other bedrooms and 4 en suite bathrooms. Du Familial Foyer, said to be the oldest building in our tiny hamlet, is a traditional, spacious old French farmhouse, stone built and simple, with oak beams upstairs, and fine elegant windows and doors. Résidence looks out onto the garden, Le Parc Anglais.
Cime L'arbre - two story house, spanning the entire end of a massive stone, oak-beamed Charentaise grange. The house has 2 bedrooms, a sleeping alcove off the living room, 2 en suite bathrooms plus a vestiaire (cloakroom). The shady 15 metre long elevated veranda overlooks the swimming pool and panoramic sunlit views of vineyards and sunflower quilted landscape.
Charming Atelier has spectacular views of garden, swimming pool, fields and countryside. 2 story gîte with 50 sq metres of open-plan salon and fully equipped kitchen, dining for 6, and vestiaire. 2 modern en suite bathrooms, exposed stone walls and beams, Provence style ceramic tiled floors. A large balcony. Bedrooms on ground floor stay comfortably cool on warmest summer nights.
La Source - "Mignon, un bijou - romantique". One bedroom two stories, the Source is ideal for a couple to enjoy a quiet holiday in Charente-Maritime, the charming coastal department of Southwest France. Charentaise stone walls, ceramic tiled floors and exposed wooden vaulted ceiling, huge main beams upstairs. The view through the well window is of mature trees, roses and lavender borders.
Le Cottage du Lucé, a stand alone, one story house, more in the style of a beach house than a converted barn, has the advantage of being apart from the other houses. It sits in the shade of a grand old tree. Traditional roman-canal tiled roof; ceramic tile floors; two bedrooms, one to either side of the living room; two en suite bathrooms. Dining on the calm leafy terrace is comfortble even at midday.
We are equidistant from both Bordeaux AND La Rochelle airports. Nearest TGV trains are Angouleme or Niort with easy connection to Saintes (just a few minutes away). Car rentals are in front of the stations. Also, we are just 10 minutes from exit 36 off A10 autoroute.
Nearest beaches to our village are at (Les plages les plus
proches a notre) Mescher sur Gironde and the light sands of
St Georges de Didonne both 26.3km (16miles) away. Then there
is Royan, 30.7km (19.2miles) and along the coast north or
south of the Gironde, are hundreds of miles of silver sand
beaches. The country is gentle for bike riding. There is a
premier zoo nearby, antiquities and historical sites of
interest, Chateaux to tour, museums, etc. Terrific number of
Cafes & Restaurants.
We have a very large swimming pool and tiled sunning deck - 14m x 14. In the pool house is a full size "ping-pong" table.
We have some old bicycles which our visitors can use at no extra charge. The country is gentle for bicycle riding. There's a village a few minutes by bicycle, 5 minutes away by auto with shops: *3 BAKERIES, street market on Friday mornings, good supermarkets, restaurants, cafe, etc.
