The Confiterie

The Confiterie is lovely! Cool, open and airy in summer, warm and cosy in winter, and always surprising - a tardis of a cottage.

The Confiterie is a stand-alone, Roman tiled, Charente stone house with a bedroom wing that defines the private terrace.

The master bedroom with en suite bathroom has an en suite bathroom with a shower, and a large walk-in closet. Between the master bedroom and main room of the cottage is a second bedroom (which for the moment we are using as an office and will be exchanging for 2 or 3 single beds later in the Spring) with its own wc and hand basin vestiaire. This 2nd bedroom has access to the main bathroom also. There is a sleeping alcove for 2 beside the livingroom. And of course, those sleeping there have a lovely bathroom. The house sleeps up to 6 persons.

The opened up main house has a soaring ceiling. The tiled floor area of the main salon alone is  as large as many a two story house (10m x 11m). The roof beams and rafters are exposed, creating a great sense of space. The north wall, 10m, is all wood and double-glazing, affording views of the terrace, banana grove, orchard, gardens and mature trees, as well as the surrounding countryside.  In the centre is a large stone fireplace, open on both sides.

There are full-length curtains at every window and door throughout the house, of course.
(Alas, the kitty-cats do not live here anymore. )
